Why Pales*tine?

On the 7th of October 2023, Hamas, a Palestinian armed wing, led an invasion against the israeli zionist state. In response to this action, the israeli defense force began aerial bombing of densely populated areas for the Gaza strip, which led to mass casualties.

Today marks one month since the bombardment had begun, causing the death of thousands of Palestinian children, women and men. The israeli government has also shut down the electricity, water and other necessities to the people of Gaza. With little to no aid entering the city. The israeli government has asked the people of Gaza to move to the south as this is a “safe place”. But is it?

The bombardment has not stopped for the last 30 days, more than a 1000 people are still stuck under the rubble and unfortunately rescue workers are unable to get to them due to the shortage of fuel and essential equipment. At least 4,104 children have been killed, more than 70% of the population of Gaza has been displaced and yet israel refuses to believe that they are taking the lives of innocent human beings.

The israeli military has bombed schools, refugee camps, hospitals and places of worship, all because they assume that Hamas militants are hiding in these buildings. They (israel) have also accused Hamas of beheading israeli babies, however there has been no proof to these accusations. One begins to wonder if these zionists even care about human life or if the genocide that is being done is a show of power.

How ironic is it that during the Russia – Ukraine war, the world was in arms stating that Russia was in the wrong, there was even a warrant of arrest from the ICC (International Criminal Court) for Russian president Vladimir Putin, but now nothing has been said or done to the israeli government or militants.

Social media has been a buzz about these recent events, however due to shadow-banning and many more dull-witted “security reasons”, the coverage and Pro-Palestinian posts, stories and reels have not been getting as many views as people had expected, therefore social media users have turned to spelling Palestine as “Pales*tine” or “Pales-tine” so that the coverage can be vast. Palestinian journalists are posting about the daily bombardment and how it is affecting their lives. Some of whom have lost their families but still continue to give the world coverage so that we may know the real story. One journalist has also asked his followers to continue sharing his posts, stating that if he should not make it tomorrow, the world must know the truth.

But how can we, the viewers, not feel despondent, how do we not feel helpless when we see the dead bodies of innocent Palestinian children? How do we carry on with our daily lives when we know a father is searching through rubble for his family?

I’m writing this, feeling broken inside. Everytime I see a little child who is fighting for their life, or even one who has no life, I look as my child and tears fill my eyes. Imagining the pain their parents are feeling, the pain a child is going through, the heartache is unbearable. But we have to be strong, if they are going through these tough times without asking for much then we have nothing to complain about.

Let us remember these innocent people in our hearts and prayers. Let the world never forget what was done to them and how we couldn’t even help them get a single drop of water. Let us never forget the cries of the children who lost their parents, because they surely won’t. And let us never forget that FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE.

Here is a small list of people who you can follow to keep up to date with the Gaza genocide:
